The topic my group undertook was gun control. We looked at three points of views on the topic ranging from right wing, middle, and left wing. Their concerns were about background checks, buy back plans, and their rights.

I live in a town where majority of the population lives in the country. They have to deal with raccoons and coyotes that will kill their farm animals. Raccoons get into chicken coups all the time and typically there is more than one. The homeowners do use guns on the raccoons when they are trying to kill their chickens. Not everyone is fond of their neighbors having guns in the fear that there will be a gun related accident.

My parody on guns is a product advertisement for rubber bullets. This product will be marketed towards gun owners who have neighbors that dislike their ownership of guns. It is an extreme advertisement and completely ridiculous, but it makes for a good laugh.

[clip of neighbor (Bob) practicing their shooting as normal]

Voice over: “When you practice shooting are your neighbors fed up with you using them as a target? Are they always nagging at you because you own a gun? Well the solution is EASY!!!! Simply replace your high-quality bullets for rubber bullets. Rubber bullets are safer to use on you neighbors as they only inflict superficial injuries. Rubber bullets will save you headaches and your neighbor will save on their medical bill. See how much neighbors are loving the switch to rubber bullets”

[camera on neighbor has they begin talking]

Neighbor: “My medical bills will through the roof before Bob switched to rubber bullets. Now that he has switched, I can finally relax when being shot at. I am so happy Bob respected us and changed his ways. The rubber bullets are safe to use!”

Voiceover: “Respect you neighbors and use rubber bullets TODAY!!!”

[end]

With this parody, I wanted to take the fear of having neighbors who own guns and make it extreme. The neighbor is someone who wants more control over guns, which we can see because they nag their neighbor about his gun use. The neighbor is definitely left winged in their opinions. I think I did a fair job in succeeding with my parody.

this parody was hilarious, and used the discursive methods you said it would. I would have liked more discussion afterward though.
